Mother’s Day Gift Guide

For the moms who wear many hats and can be found wrangling kids in the dusty corners of a barn, shuffling farmers from one field to the next, whipping up a meal to serve a crew in a moments notice, delivering a newborn calf, and much, much more. I’ve curated a list of some of the things I think the moms in agriculture will love.

I hope this gift guide gives you ideas and inspiration to treat the mom in your life.

Things that Don’t cost a dime

Time

Plan a day for the family. If she can show up and attend a fun-filled family day that she didn’t have to plan, she will be thankful for it!

Plan the activities, what you’ll eat, and more. Some ideas would be:

  • A family day checking fields and a packed picnic lunch.
  • A trip to a garden center (yes this costs money) for her to pick out some springtime flowers.
  • A landscaping day around the home where you have things like new mulch and lunch laid out for her so she doesn’t have to think about it.

A Handwritten Note

I always value a thought-filled note from someone I love.

Thought Starters for Husbands:

  • Write about what you value most about her as a mom
  • What are some things she does that you are thankful for?
  • What are some things she does to support you?-name some specific things and thank her for them.
  • Here are some things I love about how you mother our kids:
  • Add in some flair and inside jokes between the two of you that you know will make her smile

Thought Starters for Kids:

  • What are some of your favorite things about her?
  • What are some of your favorite things to do with her?
  • How does she help and support you? Thank her for what she does for you and how she makes you feel.
  • Make sure to tell her how much you love her!

Experiences

A quick list of things you can get her to treat herself. If you have kids, make sure to plan the childcare for her so she can get away and not feel the pressure of finding help, and the mom guilt associated with it.

  • Pedicure
  • Manicure
  • Facial
  • Massage
  • Spa Day

For Moms Suffering Loss

Mother’s Day can be a tough time for some, especially those suffering loss or infertility. Deeply Seeded is a brand I love. They have handmade necklaces specifically for moms suffering loss and infertility. She has lots of other options as well, I love her sentiment for those suffering loss.

Things She’ll Treasure

Aura photo frame. These are especially great for the grandmas in your life. We have purchased 5 Aura frames as gifts for our loved ones and I highly recommend them. You can send photos from your phone through the Aura app and they show up immediately on the frame. You can also connect multiple frames to the app, so I’m able to send photos to all 5 frames at once! It’s been a great way for us to share photos of our kids with the ones we love. You can also connect many family members to the app so it’s a great gift to give as a group!

Our kids also love to see the frames when they go to visit grandmas and great grandmas. They squeal in excitement when they see a photo of themselves or their cousins show up. I want one for our house someday as well.

Grounded Journals is my brand new company I launched in February of 2023. I may be a little biased, but I would love to receive one for Mother’s Day to cherish our family’s farm memories over the years.

The Memoir would be a perfect gift for the grandmothers in your life. It’s tailored to fit both farm and ranch families and capture memories throughout their lifetime of farming or ranching.

The 10-Year journal would be a perfect gift for the women actively farming. So far, I have created the crop farm journal and the dairy farm journal. These journals are meant to be used in-the-moment and keep memories as your family goes through the years farming. I’m creating more versions for other types of operations in the future!

Breastmilk Jewelry is something I found while I was pregnant with my first. I loved the concept and having a moment to remember the journey breastfeeding moms go on with their littles. You won’t be able to get a custom made piece in time for Mother’s Day, but you could definitely get a gift card so she can pick out the perfect piece for her. This ring has breastmilk from both of my kids and birthstones for all three, including the baby we lost to miscarriage. It’s something I’ll treasure forever.

I loved working with Jewelry Memories to create my custom piece. They have real gold options so the jewelry will last for decades. They’re a Canadian based company and it does take a bit for the shipping process but it was worth the wait!

A family photo session is a great gift for Mother’s Day. Notoriously, moms are behind the camera and there’s no shortage of photos of Dad with the kids. Help her get some memories captured by hiring a local photographer for a session.

Equip Her To Do The Things She Loves

Duluth Trading Company is a brand our family loves. We shop their gear for work on the farm and Josh get’s all of his work pants from Duluth.

My favorite sweatshirt from Duluth! There are lots of color selections. It’s the perfect weight for a crewneck and it has a pocket. I love the light blue colored version I have and this lilac one is on my wishlist.
My favorite bra from Duluth. It’s the Armachillo cooling longline bra and is SO comfortable. I love the fit and the over the shoulder straps. I have lots of neck tension, and carrying kids around doesn’t help, so a bra that is comfortable and not racer back is key. Fit is true to size.
My favorite chore jacket, and since it’s not really the season to be purchasing a warm jacket, it’s on sale! I love the sherpa lined pockets because I’m always forgetting to wear my gloves for chores. It fits 22+ eggs and washes up nicely. It is womens fit, so if you like to layer, I recommend sizing up. I went with a medium, I’m 5’6″ tall and 125# and it fits perfect.
This tote is on my wishlist from Duluth. It’s real leather. I’m in my de-cluttering era and if I add anything accessory-wise like this to my life it has to be something that will last a lifetime and serve a great function.
These gardening short overalls are also on my list. They have tons of cute colors and print options!
A good pair of workboots are a great gift for the farm mom in your life. I have two pairs that I love, but these boots from Brunt are my favorites right now. There is only one women’s option from Brunt and they are soft toe. One warning- they took a long time for me to break in. So right off the bat I thought I wouldn’t like them, but once I wore them in, they’ve become my favorite. The laces were too long to start and I was tripping over them, but it was easy to trim the laces and now they’re my perfect work boot and I think they are going to hold up for a long time.

Athlesure Era

Another brand I share on social quite often is Senita Athletics. I fell in love with this brand when I was breastfeeding my first. They have the best nursing sports bras that are very comfortable and supportive! I live in Senita gear during the summer months for most of our outdoor activities.

The shorts I’m wearing in the photo above are my favorite. They’re the Sedona shorts and I have them in 3 colors.

I lived in Senita Nursing Bra’s while I breastfed both of my kids. They’re comfortable and supportive. I didn’t have a lot of nursing specific things, but these bras were worth it to me.
I love Senita’s selection of tank tops. They’re lightweight and great for summer. My favorites have been this pink lemonade open back tank, achiever tank in periwinkle, and the knotty tank ( I have several colors)

These 40oz tumblers are all over the place. I really love having one when I’m out working on warmer days because I don’t have to re-fill often and it holds ice well. I think there are pluses and minuses to different brands but if she’ll be using it soley for water, I recommend the Simple Modern 40oz Trek Tumbler. I have the Stanley 40oz and love it too, but it will leak when it tips over.
A good pair of work gloves never fails. I found several options at Farm & Fleet. It’s a great time of year to get her gardening gloves and other supplies for outdoor work. Like my dad always said, “If you can’t find it at Farm & Fleet then you don’t need it.”

I hope you were able to find some inspiration here and enjoy Mother’s Day with the moms in your life!
